On the day

Small things that help.

So the doctor can see how you move, and nobody has to wait for paperwork.

  • What to wear

Loose, comfortable clothes so the doctor can see how your back, hips, knees or shoulders move. Shorts or a T-shirt in your bag help for knee and shoulder problems.

  • Access

Tell us when you book if you need a wheelchair at the entrance. Bring the walking aids, splints or braces you use every day.

  • Children

A parent or guardian must come with anyone under 18. Bring school or therapy reports if you have them.

Clinic visit

When you need to be examined.

  • A full examination of how you move, your nerves and strength
  • Image-guided injections, when the doctor decides they are suitable
  • Bring scans and reports on CD or your phone

When travel is hard.

  • First advice, follow-ups and home programmes
  • A good start straight after a hospital stay
  • If you need an examination or a procedure, the doctor will ask you to come in

Questions

Before you visit.

Short answers to what people ask most before a first consultation.

Will I need tests on the day?

Usually not. The doctor decides if you need scans or blood tests after examining you, and explains why.

Can I come straight from hospital after a stroke?

Yes. Bring the discharge summary and scans. If travel is hard, start with a video consult.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly. Bring any scans, reports or hospital discharge summary to a clinic visit, or share them before a video consult.

Can a family member come with me?

Yes, and we suggest it if you need help walking or are recovering from a stroke. For anyone under 18, a parent or guardian must come.
